Philosophy of care
At Columbia Neurosurgical Associates we offer you compassionate and comprehensive neurosurgical care.  That care involves not only attention to the physical ailment but also to your peace of mind.  Our staff utilizes the most advanced diagnostic means and we emphasize foremost, the non-operative treatment options for most conditions.  We firmly believe in open communication with you and your referring physician, keeping them informed through each step of your evaluation and treatment plan.  As a specialist, we rely on the skills and knowledge of our referring colleagues who know you well.  We understand the importance of coordinated care and strive to practice medicine as a team in your best interest.

Utilization of Resources
Our staff recognizes no boundaries in our efforts to obtain the most appropriate care for each person.  While we provide state of the art MRI and Pain Management departments, we do not limit our resources with regard to your care.  We frequently utilize the quality imaging services available through our affiliated hospitals and free-standing diagnostic centers.  Our patients benefit from additional interventions as provided by area pain specialists, neuro-interventionalists, local rehabilitation physicians and facilities.  We often prescribe and arrange physical, occupational, speech and massage therapies as well as nutritional, vocational and psychological counseling as needed.  Our single purpose and goal is to provide you with the best possible treatment and support.

Surgical Philosophy
In some circumstances your condition may best be treated by surgery.  Such decisions are made only by consensus and after consultation with our physicians.  We attempt to recommend the most effective surgical treatment with the least invasive technique to minimize the risks and recovery.  Our physicians take considerable time to review the options in detail, describe the operation and its rationale, explain the anticipated recovery and share the outcomes of each procedure.  This serves to alleviate the fear and anxiety of the unknown.  We welcome your questions and encourage dialogue with your other physicians.  You may be assured that all of our physicians are imminently qualified and skilled.  Our affiliated hospitals are equipped with the latest technical advances such as operating microscopes, intraoperative navigational guidance, ultrasonic aspiration devices and the Gamma Knife for radiosurgery.  All of this serves to make your surgery as safe and successful as possible.
